Separate the steps of a Moroccan body ritual
A spa package may include steam, black soap, exfoliation, a body mask and a massage. These are separate steps, even when the menu gives them one name. Knowing the difference makes it easier to compare a simple hammam with a longer ritual and decide which parts you actually want.
Ask for the order and duration of the included steps. A one-hour package does not necessarily contain an hour of massage. Resting, washing and moving between rooms may be part of the programme, so compare the written inclusions rather than the package title alone.
Black soap and kessa exfoliation
In the Moroccan hammam, black soap and the kessa glove are associated with washing and exfoliation. The soap is applied and rinsed as part of the ritual; the glove provides the scrubbing action. The practitioner should be able to explain the sequence before beginning.
Tell the person carrying out the scrub how much pressure feels comfortable. You can ask for a gentler approach or for an area to be avoided. Stronger friction is not a target to achieve. For the full sequence, read our step-by-step hammam guide.
Salt, sugar and other body scrubs
A salt or sugar scrub uses a different exfoliating product from a kessa-based hammam scrub. It may be offered in a treatment room, as part of a bath ritual or before a body massage. Ask where it takes place, how the product is removed and whether shower time is included.
An attractive ingredient name is only part of the description. Ask for the product details if fragrance or an ingredient matters to you. Explain any recent skin treatment or concern directly to an appropriate professional before arranging exfoliation.
Ghassoul body masks and wraps
Ghassoul, also written rhassoul, is a Moroccan clay used in beauty rituals. A spa may apply a body mask, include it in a hammam sequence or offer a separate wrap. Ask whether it is used on the body, scalp or face and which other ingredients are mixed into the product.
A body wrap usually involves applying a product and allowing time for it to sit before removal. Find out whether you will be covered, how warm the treatment is, and whether you remain in the same room. The menu name does not tell you the temperature or personal suitability.
Other wraps and body-care treatments
Menus may mention algae, mud, honey, rose or other preparations. Compare the method, products and finishing step. A moisturizing application, an exfoliating scrub and a massage are different services, even when the descriptions all refer to soft or smooth skin.
Treat terms such as detox, slimming or firming as claims to question rather than guaranteed results. Ask what happens during the appointment. If you want a manual massage, check that one is included instead of assuming a body-care title provides it.
Combine treatments in a sensible order
Ask the venue how it recommends arranging your selected services, especially if you also want waxing, a facial or hair styling. Allow time to wash away a scrub or clay before another appointment. Check changing facilities and bring a dry change of clothes if the visit includes washing.
Select the exact sourced offer on Morocco Hammam and compare its duration and price. If the menu is incomplete, send a request for the steps you want. The team checks the programme and total before confirmation. Our guide to spa packages helps you read longer combinations without counting the same inclusion twice.
